Business Objects

ITM has been designed using a business object approach. It has a library of business objects inherited in a form of multiple level hierarchy. Business objects have different classes like finance, distribution and manufacturing, within finance there are objects, like Accounts Payable and General Ledger, within Accounts payable there can be Invoice, Finance charge etc.. At each of these levels there are a set of methods which define the behavior of the object. Methods are pre-tested ITM software, which can be used to get pre-defined output by providing required input. The user of the objects need not know how activities are carried out within the object or method.

The business object approach provides flexibility to implementers allowing them to reuse existing functionality, defined and programmed elsewhere in ITM. Business objects can be used in workflow, web page and customised ITM transactions. They can also be activated from a legacy system. Business objects provide organisations with a reliable method to change from, and adapt to new functionality quickly and smoothly without interrupting the business.

ITM is ideal for expanding and developing organisations due to its modular character. After installation of the basis module, successive modules may be added to the system when they are required. Thus, installation and implementation of the ITM may be gradual or rapid, according to the pace of development of company. All modules of ITM are integrated and detachable from each other.

Platform Independence

ITM runs on nearly any hardware platform or operating system, and functions with all major RDBMS. ITM has been running under oracle 8, oracle 7.3 with HP-UX, SCO, Windows NT and Novell platform. It is compatible with Sybase, SQL Server, Personal Oracle and SQL Anywhere.

Programmable Configuration Unit (PCU) is a tool that allows users to configure business rules, making ITM more native to your business and more friendly to the user. This can be achieved by setting up parameters in ITM.

Business Rules : You can configure ITM to perform some business rules which are specific to your business in the various module of ITM. To configure a business rule you may call a method from a public or proprietary business object, configure it by writing a SQL script, create dynamic masters or impose cross column validation.

Adopt the business terminology, which is specific to your organisation and not what the system imposes upon you. Configure messages and input screens to provide a look and feel that is native to your organisation. Define Pop-ups to provide information which is required in a particular data entry screen for e.g. While entering sales orders, pop-up on customer can be configured to display Code, Name, City.

PCU allows users to set-up their own default options whereby they directly reach their option on login. It allows each individual user to set its own default values for various columns and specify the navigation sequence.

Client-Server Technology

ITM provides a real multi-tier Client Server Solution. The ITM objects can be loaded in one or more application servers, which interacts with the database server. The clients/user terminal makes calls to the application server and gets the processed results.

The application servers shares the load of the client, stores and provides frequently accessed data, holds the business objects which can be called from various modules and works in background making it possible for a user to carry on with other activities on ITM. The user can push the report to the application server and continue to work on other things; when the report is processed by application server, ITM submits it to the user.

Following objects can be loaded on to the application server.

  • Business objects : Voluminous data can be processed at remote sites from HO by providing minimum inputs to the remote site. Methods in business objects facilitate this procedure and ensure that the output is updated to the database and returns the confirmation to the user. Effectively the network load between client and application server is only input request and the confirmation and not processing of the data.

  • Pop up objects : Pop up used in ITM are configured, cached and provided to all the clients upon request.

  • EDI components : Creation and conversion of EDI data to ITM transactions are done by the EDI components in the back ground for all linked entities. For example, if a new product is introduced in HO and data is to be transferred to all the sites by EDI, the EDI component creates mails to transmit the data for each of the sites. Similarly if a purchase order is placed by a channel partner the EDI component carries out its conversion to a sales order.

  • PCU components : PCU components can be loaded on application server to reduce the client level configuration.

  • Report Servers : Reports are processed in the background on the server, thereby allowing the user to continue working on ITM.

ITM supports centralised as well as distributed computing concept a hybrid model can be also be configured based on the needs of the organisation.

ITM provides multiple level security for users of business information. For a group of users or a single user the security can be configured to :

  • Modules
  • Sites
  • Activities (Add, Edit, Delete, View, Authorise/Confirm)
  • Row and Column : Restrict access to a particular row or column in any database for. E.g. Row restrictions can be enforced such that Domestic sales personnel are restricted from viewing export price details. Similarly column restrictions can be applied to disable viewing of basic salary in employee master.

Work Flow

Base Work Flow™ makes the movement of documents automatic, eliminating the need for human to figure out who should get the information next, collapsing the travel times and avoiding wrong routing. The system is programmed to send information along different paths depending on the contents and the nature of the documents.

Base Workflow™ automates

  • Routing : Routing refers to the direction and where objects flow. Objects include documents, forms, data, and applications. Routing also accounts for the person / process to whom the work is being routed.

  • Business Rules : Rules that determine what information is to be routed and to whom.

  • Roles : They are identified independent of the people who carry them out. Defining roles ensures the flexibility of the process; if for example work is to be routed to Mr. Dubey and he is unavailable, the recipient under the new conditions would have to be specified.

ITM EDI enables you to communicate with other ITM sites and business partners using EDI technology. You can configure various EDI data formats for sending or receiving information from your business partners and your own sites. As soon as the transaction is completed in ITM, it creates the EDI data for every required EDI partners. The data created can be sent automatically by using any MAPI compatible mailing system. On receipt of an EDI data, ITM automatically reads and updates it to required transaction of ITM.

ITM e-business interface makes you ready to perform business transactions on the Internet by enabling you to deploy ITM components, screens and reports on the Web. It allows your business partners access and provides information through the Internet.
